Committing to Success
by Bob Beck

Whether you’re a sales expert, professional athlete, doctor, teacher, or any successful professional you understands how important commitment is. From a sales perspective, when you go on an interview for any sales position do you realize that many companies during the interview process are looking to find out what type of commitment and dedication you might have.

Have you ever been asked this question during an interview: "What do you do best?" You are probably well rehearsed for this question.  So the next question to follow is "What do you need to do better?" If you struggle with the question "what do you need to do better" that's generally acceptable because we all know that there is always something we can improve upon. But at least give them an answer and don't ever answer the question so boldly and say, "nothing."  Responding with "nothing" is obviously the wrong answer.  We all need to work on change every day.

Generally, the interviewer is not really interested in the answer but how you have responded. Does your response show that you are dedicated to improvement?

Now, here come more questions, and they will ask you to tell them a few things that you have done recently to improve yourself. You can't sit there startled, because this set of questions actually speaks loud and clear.  If you tell them nothing, it shows that you have no desire to change. People must strive to better themselves on a regular basis.  You will not become a successful sales person if you think you can just coast through life.  Work hard and be responsible for making changes in your life.

As soon as you get comfortable, you are in for some rough times. There is always someone out there on your heels. The markets are too volatile and competitive to ever rest on your laurels. Regardless of whether it is your career or personal relationships there is an absolute correlation between your success and your level of commitment. We all need to be aware and take measurements on a regular basis. Achieve the results you dream of, be committed.
